On Grid & Hybrid Solar System

PLTS Off Grid

What is On Grid Solar System?

On Grid solar systems are solar power systems that are connected to the power grid and are generally installed on rooftops, capturing sunlight and converting it into electricity. An inverter then transforms the generated direct current (DC) electricity into the alternating current (AC) used in most homes and businesses.

The AC electricity is connected to the existing electrical grid through a meter, allowing excess electricity to be fed back into the grid. A bidirectional meter tracks both grid consumption and surplus energy, potentially resulting in credits or payments for the home owner.

The system balances power usage by drawing from the grid when solar panels can’t produce enough electricity and sending excess electricity back when generated. Advantages of an on-grid solar system include potential cost savings on electricity, environmental benefits, and potential financial incentives for excess energy production.

Please note that an On-Grid system will switch off when there is black out from the grid, hence there are other type of solar power system that can be choose depends on the individual circumstances, energy needs, and geographical location.

What is a Hybrid Solar System?

Hybrid solar systems are renewable energy systems that are connected to the grid and equipped with battery storage. The system uses solar panels to produce energy during the day, while the batteries store excess energy for use later at night when there is no sunlight. These systems are typically used to address the limitations and variability of solar power.

It’s important to note that off-grid systems require a larger initial investment compared to grid-tied systems, but they offer energy independence and can be environmentally friendly by reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Proper system design and sizing, along with efficient energy use, are essential to make off-grid solar roof systems a practical and reliable source of electricity.
